It’s been twelve years since WinterFest was last held at Kings Island, but it will be making a return to the popular southern Ohio amusement park. For a number of years, many park guests have been asking Santa for a return to this family-favorite park event; in 2017, those wishes will be answered as the park extends its operations to include the Christmas holiday season. While a lot of particulars have not been disclosed, some details have been announced.
What do we know?
Kings Island will decorate its 314-foot tall Eiffel Tower with lights to create the world’s largest Christmas tree display. In addition, International Street will be transformed into a festive winter setting. There will be Christmas carolers, outdoor skating on the Royal Fountains, and so much more! Furthermore, the Grand Carousel and the train rides will be open. Will other rides be open? It is hard to say at the present time; certainly, winter weather conditions will play a role in that decision, but it would be hard to expect roller coasters to be running during the near- or sub-freezing temperatures typically experienced during winters in Ohio. One final bit of great news is that WinterFest will be free for all Gold and Platinum season passholders!
