During the recent 2016 Q2 Earnings Conference Call, Cedar Fair executives announced that the company is doing really well and still on target for a seventh consecutive year of record results. While much was learned and still more future announcements still remaining under wraps, one thing that was quite intriguing is that Cedar Fair will expand its operational seasons at three more of its theme parks in 2017. Earlier, it announced that it was adding WinterFest to California’s Great Adventure in 2016, extending its operating calendar by 21 total days during November and December. Similar plans are set for at least three more Cedar Fair parks in 2017.
With that said, Cedar Fair has yet to announce which of its parks will get WinterFest added to its calendar in 2017, but there are some parks that seem ripe for the addition of a Christmas season. Based on attendance and seasonal temperatures alone, it would seem that WinterFest is set to be announced for Carowinds, Kings Dominion, and Kings Island. While nothing will be made official until later in August or early September, all signs point to these parks, especially with Cedar Fair’s two major California parks, Knott’s Berry Farm and California’s Great America, already locked in for the holiday season moving forward. One additional thing to consider is that Cedar Fair executives were asked how many of the Cedar Fair parks might get the holiday treatment in future seasons; while those executives did not commit to anything, they indicated that, with solid results from these 2017 additions, it is plausible that about half of the current Cedar Fair properties could offer WinterFest or similar holiday operating days in the coming years. Which Cedar Fair parks do you anticipate will get WinterFest in 2017?
