Over the years, you may have heard family, friends, or other coaster addicts talk about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It is one of the most popular (if not the most popular) Christmas celebration experience at a theme park. The party takes place each year at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This is a separate ticketed event and often sells out. This means that, if you have a day ticket for the Magic Kingdom, you will be asked to leave as the party gets started unless you have purchased a party ticket.
The party kicks off at 7pm and runs until midnight; however, you can enter the park at 4:00. We highly recommend getting there early so you can knock out some rides and really enjoy the park before the party kicks into high gear. But, how do cast members know if you are there for the party with or without a ticket? When you enter the park with your ticket you are given a special wristband that must stay on through the duration of the party. Cast members will approach those without a wristband and kindly ask them to head towards the exit.
Most of the rides are open during the party. Our personal favorite is always riding Splash Mountain in the late evening; as you are riding up to the top, you can take in some great views of the castle all lit up. Another great thing about the party is that the rides typically have much shorter lines. This is due to so many holiday activities that are exclusively offered during the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas event. During the party, you can get some very unique character photos – Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws, pictures with all Seven Dwarfs (which is very popular among guests), and even the Disney princesses have brought the princes with them to take photos with guests. There is also a special nighttime Christmas parade and Holiday Wishes, the fireworks display bursting along to your favorite holiday songs. Plus, there is the nightly lighting of the castle during a Frozen Holiday Wish. Here is a list of all the shows to take in:
– A Frozen Holiday Wish at 6:15 p.m and 8:15 p.m
– Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration -is at 7:40 p.m., 9:25 p.m., 10:30 p.m., 11:55 p.m
– Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade run at 8:30 p.m., 11 p.m
– Holiday Wishes—Celebrate the Spirit of the Season – the fireworks start promptly at 10 p.m
– A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas – 7:45 p.m., 8:35 p.m., 9:25 p.m., 10:45 p.m., 11:35 p.m
– Club Tinsel – 7 p.m.-12 a.m
That’s quite a long list of activities, but there is more! Remember this is the party people always talk about. While you are out at the party, you may get hungry but not want to waste time sitting down for a meal. The party has absolutely free snack stations throughout the park! Yes, you read this correctly! Each snack station is different, and yes you can go back for more. This year’s selection of nightly snacks includes pretzels, cookies of different varieties, plenty of hot chocolate, and even sno-cones. For guests looking to enjoy a more traditional holiday meal, some of the dining places have prepared special holiday foods that are available for purchase.
From snow falling on Main Street and fun party apparel for sale, decorations everywhere, a great atmosphere, and even Santa himself, we hope one year that you will be able to attend this magical, festive filled event.
