The 2016 World Series battle between the victorious Chicago Cubs and their American League opponent, Cleveland Indians, was an amazing and hard-fought seven game fall classic. While it was unfortunate that this epic battle could only crown one champion, the Chicago Cubs ended their 108-year-long title drought.
Go Cubs Go!
With the Cubs securing the title in the seventh game, they also secured one additional feat – a victory for their Chicago-area amusement park, Six Flags Great America. In the days leading up to the seven-game series, Six Flags Great America and Cedar Point entered into a friendly wager. Since the Cubs won, the team at Cedar Point had to perform, “Go Cubs Go!” In addition, Six Flags could rename one ride at Cedar Point for the 2017 opening weekend.

Top Thrill Cubster
After some deliberation following the Cubs’ World Series win, the team at Six Flags Great America made their decision. Top Thrill Dragster will be renamed at Cedar Fair’s flagship park when the 2017 operating season begins. The world-class stratcoaster’s new name, Top Thrill Cubster, will be in effect for the opening weekend. It is yet to be known how much theming will be changed to match the limited-edition ride name. Congratulations, Cubs… and Six Flags Great America! Nonetheless, you know the place to be on Saturday, May 6, 2017!
