After a long winter filled with anticipation and guesses, Kings Island has finally opened for the 2017 season, allowing park guests to find out once and for all just What’s In The Shed… sure, we could ruin the surprise for you and take you step by step through just what you can expect when entering Mystic Timbers’ “Shed,” but we don’t want to ruin it for everybody. If you really want us to spill the beans, like our Facebook Page and send us a message.
Insight Into “The Shed”
The great folks at Cedar Fair and their world-class amusement park, Kings Island, have partnered with some amazing companies to ensure that the story behind Mystic Timbers is told throughout the entire experience – from the time park guests enter the queue area to the end of the 3,265 feet of track. Great Coasters International (GCI) has designed quite a thrilling roller coaster track layout. This thrill machine is a perfect fit for enthusiasts, young and old! As the coaster trains near the end of its lap around the track, one final experience remains – the Shed!
Without giving it all away, the Shed offers one remaining opportunity for the Mystic Timbers experience to tell the story about the Miami River Lumber Company. Technology and innovation are contained within the simple confines of the Shed. Courtesy of the creative work and innovations of Holovis, riders are immersed in the highly-anticipated Shed setting. Using cutting-edge technology, Holovis gives riders an enhanced experience that is not found on your typical roller coaster. Most roller coasters provide the adrenaline-pumping hills, drops, twists, and turns, but Mystic Timbers takes it up a level by building upon the storyline. Riders enter the Shed and find a combination of video screens, lighting, sound, and other elements. Furthermore, riders will be left wanting to ride it again and again – curious to see if they have truly seen everything that is in the Shed.
Partnering With Holovis
It appears that this was a nice little secret that only was revealed during Media Day. Holovis is known for bringing new immersive experiences to amusement attractions. Cedar Fair (owner and operator of Kings Island) is known for integrating technology into park experiences through something that Matt Ouimet, company CEO, calls “techtainment.” This marrying of attractions and technology allows for some unique and evolving experiences. A growing partnership between Holovis and Cedar Fair has resulted in some great experiences for park guests, including augmented reality (Battle for Cedar Point and Battle for Kings Dominion) and this ride conclusion storyline. One great thing about using technology to answer the pressing question [What’s in the Shed?] is that the storyline can always be enhanced and adapted as the storyline deems necessary. The story lives on, and guests will be coming back time and time again. We can’t wait to see what Holovis has up its sleeve next and how the partnership between Cedar Fair and Holovis might come up with next!
