According to sources in Orlando, the SkyPlex appears to have hit a setback for its world-recording breaking complex that is planning to open the world’s tallest roller coaster. The Orange County Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-3 to not recommend the approval of the SkyPlex Project. While the project got the go-ahead in recent months by the Federal Aviation Authority and the Orange County Development Review Committee, the planning and zoning committee did not recommend that the proposed SkyPlex property be rezoned. It appears that the heavy lobbying by nearby juggernauts, Universal Studios, Comcast, and others may have played a role in all of this. Still, does this cancel the entire project or slow its progression? Only time will tell. Currently, no final decision has been made; for that decision is in the hands of the Board of County Commissioners. It appears we will have to wait until sometime in December for final rulings on the matter. Until then, we just wait and see what happens. Should SkyPlex be approved? Or should it be denied due to its extreme height?
