With construction on Twisted Cyclone in full swing at Six Flags Over Georgia, fans are anxiously awaiting the Memorial Day weekend opening, but the park has another great surprise for the 2018 season. For a limited time, Six Flags Over Georgia is turning The Great American Scream Machine around and running it BACKWARDS for enthusiasts. Popular running backwards back in the early 1990’s, the Scream Machine will bring a new, thrilling experience to thrill seekers as the park celebrates the coaster’s 45th anniversary. Also integrated into this new thrilling experience is the iconic Georgia Cyclone. Engineers at Six Flags found a way to use the Georgia Cyclone trains on the Scream Machine. For those who may not have liked the old-style restraints on the previous Scream Machine trains, the comfort and experience provided moving forward will be new and exciting. In many ways, this allows Six Flags to extend the legacy of the Georgia Cyclone a little longer this way!
For those counting coaster credits, 2018 will likely offer two new credits for enthusiasts who visit Six Flags Over Georgia during the first half of the season. “The Great American Scream Machine embodies all of the classic thrills Six Flags Over Georgia is known for in the Atlanta region,” said Park President Dale Kaetzel. “Now, coaster fans will be able to experience this beloved ride backward and the exhilarating sensation when you can’t see the turns coming.” Six Flags continues to be an innovative company, providing guests with unique and exciting thrills. From running Batman: The Ride backwards at many Six Flags properties to turning around some the classic wooden roller coasters in the chain, running roller coasters backwards is something that the company has mastered over the years.
When the 2018 season opens at Six Flags Over Georgia, guests will want to check out BACKWARDS Scream Machine. Currently, the park has not announced how long the ride will be running backwards, so it is important to get to the park early and experience it before it is too late. The 2018 season opens on March 10, 2018.
