With October coming to a close, that means it’s time to play ball. The fall classic will showcase a battle between the Major League’s top two baseball teams, Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. While both teams are trying to win their first championship in quite a long time, two rival parks have made a friendly wager. Cedar Point is supporting their nearby Cleveland Indians, and Six Flags Great America is supporting their Chicago Cubs. To the park whose team loses, not only will their championship winless streak continue, but the supporting park will lose out too. If the Cubs win like many baseball experts predict, Cedar Point will have to sing Go, Cubs, Go and rename a ride of Six Flags’ choosing for opening weekend. If, however, the Indians win the 2016 World Series, the team at Six Flags Great America will have to sing Cleveland Rocks and rename a roller coaster – Cedar Point would pick the coaster that gets renamed for Six Flags’ opening weekend of 2017.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this wager,” said Hank Salemi, park president of Six Flags Great America. “Our park is rallying around Chicago for a World Series win and can’t wait to hear ‘Go, Cubs, Go’ all the way from Sandusky.”Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point added, “I think all of us in Ohio and Illinois are excited that our teams are playing October baseball. Our two parks are in the business of fun – so why not get into the spirit in our own unique way? We’re not going to lose, so they should probably get their video ready!” So, who’s going to win? Which roller coaster will get renamed for the 2017 opening weekend? Let’s Play Ball!
