The New York Metropolitan area coaster community received an early holiday present this year when the American Dream complex announced that the Nickelodeon Universe indoor theme park will be opening two record-breaking roller coasters. Opening in 2019, the park will feature two Gerstlauer gems – a launched Euro-fighter and a spinning coaster that will interact with each other. The Euro-fighter will hold the world record for the steepest roller coaster drop while the spinner, rotating on a vertical axis, will be the tallest and longest free spinning coaster. Siegfried Gerstlauer, Managing Director of Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, exhibited his enthusiasm for this particular project by stating that, ‘We have worked on many projects, but this will be unlike anything we have ever designed. Visitors to Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream are in for a great ride.’
Being built in the Meadowlands Complex in Bergen County, New Jersey, which is known for housing numerous professional athletic facilities, American Dream is part of an immense undertaking comprised of numerous retail facilities, North America’s largest fully-enclosed indoor DreamWorks water park, the sixteen story Big Snow Indoor Ski and Snow Park, luxury movie theaters, an ice rink, mini golf courses, a performing arts theater, a 285 foot tall observation wheel, the Sea Life Aquarium, and numerous other attractions. In this highly populated area, which can attract people from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, two world record-breaking coasters will undoubtedly draw huge numbers to this exciting indoor theme park.
