The end of the 2017-2018 college football season is near, and only two teams remain – the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide. When they meet at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday, January 8, 2018, there will be more at stake than just a college football national championship title. That is because regional amusement parks, Six Flags Over Georgia and Alabama Splash Adventure, have entered into a friendly wager. What’s at stake? Well, beyond bragging rights, each team is standing firmly behind their local university and placing the naming rights for opening weekend 2018 for a roller coaster at each park on the line! If the Georgia Bulldogs beat the odds-on favorite Alabama Crimson Tide, Alabama Splash Adventure will rename its world-class wooden coaster, Rampage, to Georgia Rampage for its opening weekend. In addition, staff at the front gate will wear Bulldogs attire. If the favored Crimson Tide pull off this all-SEC national championship game, Six Flags will rename its stand up coaster, Georgia Scorcher, to Alabama Scorcher during its opening weekend. Similarly, the staff at the front of the park will sport Roll Tide attire.
The 2018 seasons are set to be great for both parks. Six Flags Over Georgia will open for the season on Saturday, March 10, 2018, while Alabama Splash Adventure is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 19, 2018. With new attractions set to debut at each park, thrill seekers visiting the region will want to check out the fun.
