“This is the perfect birthday gift for our 50th year. What you are about to see next spring is a culmination of the best people in the business. We can’t wait to share it with you.” Exclaimed Six Flags Over Georgia Park President, Dale Kaetzel. New for 2017, Six Flags Over Georgia presents Justice League: Battle For Metropolis 4D. This will be a ride unlike anything the park has and is sure to keep bringing families back over and over again to repeat the experience. Scheduled to open late May, you will enter the Hall of Justice, a 22,000-square-foot building with 11 scenes to immerse you in the experience.
For this attraction, Six Flags is raising the bar yet again. “June 17, we began demolition of the bumper cars. Everything is new; the floors are super flat to ensure the cars best operation,” says Six Flags Over Georgia Director of Maintenance, Terry Stephens. Even the line you stand in while waiting to ride has been thought about to enhance your wait before you ride. There will be plenty of shade and misters. “A queue line can be dull and boring but not with Battle for Metropolis. There will be graphics explaining the story.” notes Lauren Wood-Weaver, Marketing Director at Sally Corporation. This ride will put you right in the action. You have to go save the [Justice] League. There will be lots of targets with real time gaming. Each car holds six people and everyone will be equipped with their own weapon. The car will feature on-board sound. In every scene, there will be hidden targets. Lauren mentioned that “There will be targets on the screen and on all the scenic elements to blend the physical and the non.” This ride has it all – from an interactive fog screen and the feeling of going through a virtual loop to fire, mist, and even the Joker himself. “This is a full sensory ride, an innovation of evolution. The 4D effects are quite amazing. This is the ultimate birthday gift to all who have been supporting us,” says Gene Petriello, Six Flags Over Georgia’s Communication Manager!
Also new will be an expanded Metropolis Park. Replacing the Cotton States theming, the landscape will come together to “bring justice to the Justice League” says Kaetzel. With new games, a new food court, and new pavement, this will be the only park in North America with two DC-Comics based areas, three if you count the DC Super Friends kids’ area. In addition, the park will be a repainting Superman: Ultimate Flight and returning the ride to a three-train operation. More details are sure to come on that as many are curious if both queue areas will be in operation beginning in 2017. “With a client like Six Flags, you have to push that thrill,” concludes Lauren Wood-Weaver! We are excited to check out the new look and feel in Metropolis Park in 2017 at the park celebrates 50 years in operation.
