On National Roller Coaster Day , Kings Dominion made the biggest announcement in park history. In the spring of 2018, the park will introduce a world-class hybrid roller coaster, Twisted Timbers, that is designed by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC). At 111 feet tall, the roller coaster will feature an amazing 109-foot barrel roll drop while reaching speeds of approximately 54 miles per hour. With 20 airtime moments over the coaster’s 3,361 feet of track, three over-banked turns, and three inversions, this new attraction will become a fan-favorite very soon after it debuts in the spring of 2018.
The new roller coaster experience will be located on the old site of the Hurler roller coaster in the Candy Apple Grove section of the park and be themed to an abandoned apple orchard. In fact, Twisted Timbers will be the first RMC hybrid roller coaster to open at a Cedar Fair park, offering guests an amazingly smooth coaster experience while still integrating much of wooden roller coaster thrills. With so many smooth elements to enjoy, this RMC coaster will be one that guests re-ride all season long.
“2018 is going to be an amazing year for our guests,” said Gary Chadwick, vice president and general manager, Kings Dominion. “Twisted Timbers raises the bar for Kings Dominion’s high thrill level, and adrenaline junkies everywhere will crave experiencing its astonishing twists and revolutions over and over again. This, added to the immersive Winterfest seasonal event, will let our guests experience the park in an entirely different way, creating new family traditions. These investments demonstrate our continued commitment to position Kings Dominion as a dynamic world class destination.”
2018 will definitely be one to remember at Kings Dominion; coaster enthusiasts will not want to miss out on all of the fun.
