As attendance and overall demand continues to rise at Cedar Point, it appears that now is the time for another expansion of its flagship hotel property, Hotel Breakers. In addition to recent demand for rooms on the peninsula, future expectations for demand trends upwards. Much of this is related to two significant factors. First, Cedar Fair is in the process of opening its sports complex in Sandusky, Ohio. When phase one opens in March of 2017, there is an expectation that many of the young athletes attending tournaments at the sports complex and their families will also spend one or two days at Cedar Point while in town. Second, there are high expectations of what is to come at Cedar Point in the coming years. Cedar Point just opened a brand new roller coaster, Valravn, in 2016, and there are rumors swirling that more thrills are still to come in the lead up to the highly-anticipated 150th anniversary of Cedar Point in 2020.
What’s Coming at Hotel Breakers in 2018?
Construction on a brand new six-story tower at Hotel Breakers will begin in the coming weeks and will continue throughout the entire 2017 season. The new tower will add 158 rooms to resort offerings beginning in 2018. Rooms in the new tower will have the same layouts as those currently offered in the other portions of Hotel Breakers. Also, a new pool will be added adjacent to this tower to help offset the increased capacity. When completed, Hotel Breakers will have a total of 668 rooms, giving it one of the largest capacities in along the Great Lakes. Guests staying at this flagship hotel property will continue to enjoy the same amenities – early access to Cedar Point, beachfront views and activities, and so much more! While the expansion is under construction, the hotel will continue to operate as normal. According to Cedar Point’s leadership team, rate information and reservations for the 2017 season will be available in early fall.
