It’s that time of the year again. The summer is nearing a conclusion, but the coaster season cannot end without first celebrating National Roller Coaster Day. While this holiday is not listed on every calendar that is sold each year nor proclaimed by the highest officials in the land, this holiday continues to be celebrated as more and more enthusiasts gather to ride their favorite thrill machines. Certainly, coaster enthusiasts do NOT need any extra excuses to head to their favorite amusement parks. Historically, this holiday dates back to the 1980’s.” In the early 1980’s, a national newspaper proclaimed August 16th as National Roller Coaster Day in conjunction with the year when the first roller coaster was patented in the United States.”
Not every amusement park in the country will be open, but more and more are participating in this holiday in some way, shape, or form. From special events to unofficial gatherings, we hope you have a safe and thrilling National Roller Coaster Day!
