An epidemic has been consuming the Carolinas over the past few weeks and months. Thousands of thrill seekers have been coming down with Fury Fever. In fact, it has been quite contagious. With the makeover complete and the addition of Fury 325, Carowinds is ready for the 2015 operating season. Talk about an understatement!
Often, we are reminded about the great importance of a first impression. These impressions set the day in motion. Certainly, walking up to Carowinds’ entrance in the past was a nice experience, the newly renovated main entrance plaza is quite engaging, convenient, interactive, and technologically-advanced. This makes for a better first impression of the park and what park goers can expect on a visit to the Thrill Capital of the Southeast.
Once inside, park guests will definitely want to head to the right and stay on the North Carolina section of the park. It is there that they will find the loading station for the tallest and fastest gigacoaster the world has ever seen, Fury 325. This is not your ordinary roller coaster. No, this is an adrenaline-pumping, roller coaster ride that you will NOT want to miss out on! The lift hill pulls you up a 325 foot lift hill in just over 60 seconds. Once at the top, you plummet down the first drop at speeds around 95mph. Once you make it to the bottom, it is time to turn left and up the second hill. Note that this second hill is taller than most first hills on normal roller coasters. The giga rockets left and right, and the ride experience is smooth like butter! While so many people will be fixated on the first drop, this ride has a lot of unique and unexpected ride elements that will certainly provide some thrilling surprises. The horseshoe turn-around element is amazing, and the dive under the bridge will provide some more thrills. From start to finish, this ride seems to have it all, even some airtime at unexpected times. If you love roller coasters and are anywhere near the North Carolina / South Carolina border, you must stop and enjoy over three and one half minutes of pure fun and thrills. You certainly will NOT be disappointed; in fact, you might just stumble upon your new favorite roller coaster.
