Dollywood just announced a new drop tower, Drop Line, that is scheduled to open in 2017. Park guests will be able to drop in from 200 feet in the air – combining great views with amazing thrills. Ever since Dollywood closed its Timber Tower back in 2012, park enthusiasts have been hoping that the park would install a new drop tower experience in its place. After a few years of wishful thinking, the hopes became reality; in 2017, guests can experience an all-new thrill ride from nearly 20 stories in the Pigeon Forge sky. “As everybody already knows, family is very important to me,” Dolly Parton explained. “These days, there doesn’t seem to be enough time for families to be together, whether you’re a just a couple like me and Carl or you have 12 kids like my family did growing up. That’s why we continue to add all these new rides and shows for families to experience together. We have something for everyone, but even more important, we have something for you AND your family. We’re adding so much this year; I’m calling 2017 ‘the year of the family!’”
The park continues to grow and look for ways to improve itself. Currently, Dollywood is in the midst of a 10-year, $300 million expansion plan. With the introduction of the highly-anticipated and award-winning Lightning Rod launching wooden roller coaster in 2016, adding this new thrilling drop tower back over on the other side of the park in 2017 will definitely help bring in more thrill-seekers and families while spreading out the crowds across the park and among its many world-class attractions.
