One of the biggest announcements coming out D23 Expo this year is that a lot of attention is being focused on the US-based Disney resorts and parks, Walt Disney World and Disneyland. During this year’s expo, so much focus was on upgrades to Walt Disney World parks. After much anticipation and speculation, coaster enthusiasts in the United States will be happy to hear that a new roller coaster is being added to the Magic Kingdom.
TRON: Lightcycle Power Run
While complete details about the TRON coaster experience has not yet been provided, some information is available. According to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman, Bob Chapek, TRON has been the most successful attraction at Disney Shanghai; now, it is only fitting for Tron to come to the Magic Kingdom. The attraction is slated to open up in 2021 in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary and should resemble the highly-popular current TRON coaster in Shanghai. Expect to see TRON sitting alongside Space Mountain when it opens.
Adding a new roller coaster that is fun for families of thrill-seekers young and old is music to our ears. While Disney is not expected to have the park with the most roller coasters, it is nice to see a few more added to the line-up. “Making your dreams come true is who we are and what we do,” said Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek in Hall D23 at D23 Expo 2017. Certainly, it will be a dream come true for coaster enthusiasts.
