The 2016 operating season is alive and well. With beautiful weather in abundance on opening day, Alabama Splash Adventure was filled with excited park guests. Many came to from afar to ride the park’s fantastic wooden roller coaster, Rampage.
In addition, the new flat rides appeared to be quite a hit as well. Kids really loved the Zamperla drop tower. In fact, it appeared that people of all ages loved it. Seating 6 enthusiasts per ride, this tower had some fun airtime!
One addition that some people may not have heard much about is the Patty’s Playhouse. This air-conditioned building near the flat ride section of the park is perfect for moms and their young toddlers. This location has a nursing area, some fun thrills for the youngest thrill seekers [of the future], and comfortable seating. When guests get hungry, there are many food options available. One little tip for those visiting on a hot summer day. Eat at The General’s Diner! The food is great (especially the pulled pork sandwiches), and the lines seem a little bit shorter. This is because most people will already be in the waterpark when they get hungry and just eat on that side of the park, or they will be over riding and reriding Rampage! Stopping in to eat at this diner really saves you time while enjoying a nice meal. Oh, and did I mention that The General’s Diner is air-conditioned? Talk about icing on the cake!
As the sun came out and the temperatures jumped, the waterpark quickly became the “in” place to be. With many water attractions to choose between, it was tough to pick where to go first. We started where we normally do – the lazy river. Named Warrior River, Alabama Splash Adventure has one of the better lazy rivers around. The pace of the river is nice, and there are a couple of opportunities to get drenched (or to drench your unsuspecting friends)! In addition, Splashdown offers a unique slide experience. In fact, it can be said that it is difficult to get two identical rides down this slide, especially when it comes to the entry angle! Lastly, one cannot go to Alabama Splash Adventure without riding Upsurge! Dropping for over five stories high in the air, park guests slide down tubes and up the wall. We really like to grab a two-person tube for some added height on the wall!
If opening weekend is any indication, the 2016 season will be another great one. Families from across the region are sure to have a wonderful time. With all of the freebies (i.e. sunscreen, inner tubes, soft drinks, WiFi, and parking, Alabama Splash Adventure has to be on your list, especially if you enjoy going to waterparks on a hot summer day!
