After a successful 2015 operating season, more improvements are on the way for the Alabama Splash Adventure theme park in Bessemer, Alabama! Now that the Koch family, specifically Dan Koch and his mom, Pat Koch, have a full season under their belts at Alabama Splash Adventure, the park is really taking shape. When you look at what the Koch family inherited after the former owners of Alabama Splash Adventure left the park in total disarray [and often disrepair], the turn-around over the past year or so is quite spectacular. Kuddos to Dan Koch, Pat “The General” Koch, and their amazing team at the park for a job well done. However, as we look forward to the 2016 operating season, Dan and Pat acknowledge that there is still a lot that needs to be done to further transform the park into a regional icon.
Food and more!
Attendance has grown since the Koch family took over; as a result, they want to be sure that every park guest has a top-notch park experience, and that experience should not greatly differ between a weekday visit and a Saturday visit. Because more people tend to visit the park on the weekends, Alabama Splash Adventure will be adding a lot more soda stations and misters. Free soda will continue to be the norm at the park, but the addition of new fountain machine stations will help reduce wait time and enhance the overall experiences, especially during those hot Saturday afternoons. In addition, more food options will be available to park guests in 2016. While food options at the park will certainly be plentiful, it appears that the eating hotspot will definitely be “The General’s Diner” – named after Pat Koch. Between the great food and air conditioning, this dining location will definitely be the place to eat in 2016.
On top of all of that, more ride options will arrive in time for opening day. These rides include two family-friendly flat rides from Zamperla – a 30ft tall drop tower and those classic tea cups. These will fill the current voids left in the dry ride section of the park while concurrently helping to reduce the wait times as well.
The team at Alabama Splash Adventure notes that “the Koch family made extensive progress since purchase Alabama Splash Adventure in 2014. The owners have introduced free Wi-Fi, free sunscreen, free parking, free tubes, and free Unlimited Soft Drinks. In 2015, the dormant Rampage roller coaster was fully restored and returned to operation.” Add in the new additions for 2016, and it is obvious that the park is really beginning to turn the corner and quite the family destination! It goes without saying that 2016 will be an exciting year for park goers in Alabama! As park improvements continue to take shape, we will be there to report on all of the excitement. Rest assured, you’ll want to add Alabama Splash Adventure to your list of theme parks to visit in 2016.
